In World of Light:
Type: Primary Shield Spirit
Stars: 4
Ability: None
Difficulty: Intermediate

O.k, so this spirit battle isn't quite as bad as other entries in this blog, but I've also found gimmicks to be less effective in this battle. Found in the North East corner of the map, at the volcano, This is a straightforward 1v1 against Fox, who has bonus damage, speed and defense buffs. Also, Fox has a surprisingly fast Final Smash meter. The fight takes place on the stage Venom.

Venom

Not the easiest of fights, but at least a little fairer then others. Here are some general tips to use:
1} Fox will charge his Final Smash meter at a faster rate. This can be slowed down with the Dr. Willy spirit.
2} Any spirit that boosts air attacks is useful, such as Gyarados.
3} During the fight, Fox will sometimes use his up-special to cross the top pillar that separates the two half's of the stage. He's vulnerable after he does this, so move in to attack!
4} Items will sometimes appear, such as the motion-sensor bomb. These can help, but if don't want to use them, consider throwing them off the stage so Fox can't use them either.
5} Learn how to wall tech.

Support Spirit: Dr. Wily

Image result for smash ultimate dr wily zero

Character history:
Dr. Albert W. Wily was the main antagonist of the first Mega Man series, in which he attempts to take over the world by reprogramming robots created by his rival Dr. Light. A stereotypical mad scientist, Dr. Wily has tried again and again to take over the world, but is stopped short by Mega Man just as often. In Super Smash Bros. 4, Dr. Wily appeared as a collectible trophy.

Difficulty: Hard

Found in the Metal Gear base, Dr. Wily is arguably harder to 'cheat' then the Pauline battle, but {in my opinion } not quite as infuriating. To win, you must beat 8 metal Mega Mans, who appear in pairs. Get past them, and you'll then have to face Dr. Mario. Getting past the team of Mega Mans is difficult, but their are a number of methods that can be used. Certain spirits can make the battle easier, such as Viridi, who can deal more damage against metal opponents. The spirit Great Fairy can recover a large chunk of your health. And as this is a stamina battle, any support spirit that buffs your health is useful.

As for characters, I found using Ness or Lucas and spamming Down B, or their PSI magnet, can make the fight much easier, as Mega Man will just keep shooting projectiles, which you can use to heal. Other strategies include:
-Using Peach's neutral special counter and Final Smash to heal
-Kirby's up special to dodge projectiles
-Use Fox or Falco's reflector.

Support Spirit: Pauline

Character history:
Pauline started as the damsel-in-distress in the original arcade game 'Donkey Kong,' under the name 'lady'. Pauline then went on to appear multiple times in the Mario vs Donkey Dong series. Pauline has also made cameos in previous Super Smash Bros. titles, including as a sticker in Brawl, as a trophy in Smash 4, and in the background of the stage 'New Donk City Hall' in Ultimate.

Pauline's most notable recent appearance was in Super Mario Odyssey, released in 2017. Pauline appears as the Mayor of the fictional location 'New Donk City'.

In World of Light:
Type: Support spirit
Stars: 4
Ability: Recovers health when enemy attacks are shielded
Difficulty: Hard

One of the most recognizable spirit battles in Ultimate, and not because of the joy it brings. The objective is to take out peach, who will try to flee. Given that the fight takes place on 75m, with reduced jump power and with a time limit, this is difficult enough by itself.Image result for smash 75mBut you also have to worry about Mario and Giant Donkey Kong, who can kill you in just a few hits. Fortunately, there is a way round this. Select a spirit that grants you a staff ( such as Cupid ) and take out Peach quickly from the far side of the map. Given the size of the stage, the staff is extremely effective.

If you don't have the right spirits, or you want bragging rights ( or you have a death wish ), this fight can be done spiritless. The best method I found involves the following steps:
1) Choose a character with a ranged grab (or 'tether grab' ), such as Samus.
2) When the match starts, immediately head for the top left corner of the map.
3) When Mario approaches with the hammer, grab him and throw him past the blast zone.
4) You should have about 5 seconds. Make sure their are no items on the top platform.
5) Donkey Kong will appear, and, if there are no nearby items, will head straight towards you.
6) This doesn't always work, but if you can manage to grab him close to the blast zone, you can throw him straight into the blast zone.
7) With Mario and Donkey Kong both gone, you now can now pursue peach.
8) Use Bunny Hoods, Timers and whatever you can find to take out peach.
8.b) Or, hope she miraculously SDs ( self-destructs ) in her attempts to escape. This does occasionally happen.

Support spirit: Piston Hondo

Profile:
Age: 28
Height: 6' 2''
Weight: 174 lbs

Character History:
Piston Hondo hails from Japan. He is an NPC opponent who fights Little Mac in the World Video Boxing Association. He first appeared in "Punch-Out!!" for the NES { Nintendo Entertainment System } in September 18th, 1987. He also made an appearance in the 2009 Wii remake of the same name, in which his name was changed from "Honda" to "Hondo"

In World of Light:
Type: Support spirit
Stars: 1
Ability: Fist attack boosted
Difficulty: Easy

A straightforward battle. The only real problem is getting past the constant smash attacks, though this can be negated with projectiles or counters. A useful spirit to have, however, especially if you use a character that often uses fist attacks, such as Little Mac or Mario.
